RADIOS and Digital Radio Express, Inc. Announce FMeXtra™ Launch in Israel
October 4, 2005, 2005 San Jose, California, Radios, Israel’s leading broadcaster and Digital Radio Express, Inc. (DRE) announced that Radios will be testing DRE’s FMeXtra digital radio system in consideration for Israel’s next generation digital radio broadcasting. Mr. David Ben Basat, President of Radios said,” We observed the demonstration of FMeXtra at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Radio Show in Philadelphia and were very impressed; the audio quality, the data capacity available and of course the low cost for station conversion. With the topography of Israel and the lack of free frequencies FMeXtra digital broadcasting offers a unique solution for us to improve our broadcasting.”
FMeXtra enables a single FM station to simultaneously broadcast up to 16 digital programs using existing equipment. The cost of station conversion is obviously a major factor in converting to digital and FMeXtra is the lowest cost digital radio system bar none. Mr. Basat indicated that they expect to convert one of Radios FM stations within the next few weeks and based on those test results will petition the Israel broadcasting authorities for FMeXtra digital conversion on all of Radios stations.
Presenting the DRE’s FMeXtra system at NAB was Energy-Onix, a DRE representative. Mr. Bernard Wise, President of Energy-Onix said,” the response to the FMeXtra presentation at the NAB Show exceeded expectations and in particular we are pleased that Radios will introduce DRE’s FMeXtra to the Israel market”. Energy-Onix has been a supplier of equipment to Radios in Israel for many years.
Mr. Norman Miller, DRE President said, “ We are particularly pleased that Radios, a leading broadcaster in Israel, with their wealth of broadcast experience will be testing and presenting results to the Israel broadcast authorities in the very near future. The FMeXtra digital radio system requires no changes to existing analog transmitter, antenna or studio equipment and is applicable world wide within the existing analog FM spectrum; truly a ‘plug & play’ conversion”.
