Digital Radio Express, Inc., is devoted to bringing the advancements and advantages of digital radio technology to every FM radio station today. FM radio is one of the few ubiquitous radio technologies standardized and employed worldwide, unlike the myriad of proposed incompatible digital radio systems. By digitizing part of the FM signal, known as the subcarrier or SCA, FMeXtra provides all FM broadcasters, not only in the USA, but internationally, with a high throughput, reliable digital transmission system. For broadcasters in the USA, regardless of whether the station has converted to hybrid mode IBOC (aka HD Radio™) or not, FMeXtra offers an additional independent stream of data to be put to use either for more programming or used for other data services without sacrificing any bits from the main IBOC data channel. For analog FM broadcasters, FMeXtra provides an immediate and extremely economical route to having digital broadcast capabilities in addition to the present programming.

FMeXtra can be used to broadcast true discrete 5.1 surround sound, equivalent to Dolby Digital™ 5.1, not to be confused with synthetic surround sound systems.
FMeXtra can be used to broadcast multiple independent audio streams to provide multi-channel programming (MCP), whether it is special-interests audio programs, foreign language broadcasts, full-time traffic and news, and even additional vocal and music services!
FMeXtra can be used to deliver telematics, messaging services, video clips, and many other data services, with integrated conditional access (CA) for individual and group subscription and other controlled-access services.
Best of all, FMeXtra can be put on-the-air immediately. FMeXtra works with existing FM transmission equipment. No forms to fill out; no STA's to file with the FCC.
